Nearly 48,000 square-feet of empty office space at 220 Park Street is being brought back to life for the first time since 2015. The building, one of the largest on the block, was acquired by Boji Group in December 2021 and converted from vacant to 100% occupancy in less than a year. The $21 million investment, which includes 33 below grade parking spaces, will be home to Farmers & Merchants State Bank, law firm Clark Hill, and Hylant Insurance. Both Clark Hill and Hylant Insurance were represented by real estate consultant group Advocate Advisors of Michigan.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to reimagine and further extend our long-standing presence in downtown Birmingham,” said Dan Minkus, member-in-charge of Clark Hill’s Birmingham office, which will occupy the entire second and third floor of the building. “We intend to design an inviting and forward-thinking layout that emphasizes collaboration and technology.”
“We’re thrilled to be relocating our Metro Detroit office to downtown Birmingham as part of our overall growth and expansion strategy throughout the Midwest” said Hylant Insurance Detroit Market President, Jack Miller. “It’s such a lively city with a vibrant business community.”
“Pending regulatory approval, Birmingham will be home to Farmers & Merchants State Bank’s first full-service Michigan location,” said CEO Lars Eller. “Oakland County’s business community has been very supportive of F&M’s community banking model. Our investment in Birmingham reflects that support, and we are excited to be even further involved.”
